SURYANAMASKARA


Seri praktis latihan yoga untuk semua


Suryanamaskara (dari bahasa Sanskrit) yang artinya “hormat kepada matahari” adalah seri postur yoga yang terdiri dari 12 gerakan. Gerakan-gerakan ini dilakukan secara berurutan dan ‘flowing’ dengan menggabungkan teknik pernapasan dalam setiap gerakan.
Menurut tradisi kuno yoga, sesuai dengan namanya, Suryanamaskara dilakukan sebagai penghormatan terhadap matahari, dilakukan dengan menghadap kearah timur pada waktu pagi hari ketika matahari terbit.
Pada umumnya Suryanamaskara dilakukan pada awal latihan yoga sebagai gerakan pemanasan sebelum dilanjutkan dengan latihan postur-postur yoga lainnya. Namun, Suryanamaskara juga dapat dilakukan secara terpisah dan independent tanpa digabung dengan postur-postur yoga lainnya. Seri latihan yoga ini praktis, mudah, aman dan dapat dilakukan oleh siapa saja.
Postur-postur yoga ini bermanfaat untuk melenturkan dan menguatkan jaringan otot-otot utama pada tubuh, menguatkan tulang dan membantu memperlancar peredaran oksigen dalam tubuh kita dan juga meningkatkan daya konsentrasi.
Mulai hari Anda dengan berlatih Suryanamaskara dan tubuh Anda akan terasa ringan, segar dan berenergi.

Lakukan seri latihan di bawah ini sebanyak 10 – 30 putaran:

1. Berdiri tegak, kedua kaki rapat, tangan lurus di samping tubuh.

2. Tarik napas, angkat tangan lurus ke atas.

3. Hembuskan napas, bergerak dari pinggul, rendahkan tubuh ke bawah sehingga wajah dekat atau menyentuh lutut. Letakkan kedua tangan sejajar dengan kaki. Tekuk lutut jika perlu.

4. Tarik napas, langkahkan kaki kanan lurus ke belakang, angkat tumit ke atas.

5. Tahan napas, langkahkan kaki kiri lurus ke belakang sejajar dengan kaki kiri, kedua tumit ke atas sehingga membentuk posisi “push-up”. Kedua tangan lurus ke bawah telapak tangan menempel dilantai sejajar dengan bahu.

6. Hembuskan napas, rendahkan tubuh ke lantai, hanya lutut, dada dan dagu menyentuh lantai.

7. Tarik napas, rendahkan paha, lutut dan kaki ke lantai, kemudian angkat kepala, bahu dan dada. Tekuk kedua siku dekat dan sejajar dengan tubuh. Hembuskan napas, angkat tulang ekor keatas, luruskan kedua lengan dan kaki (telapak tangan dan kaki menempel ke lantai).

8. Tarik napas, langkahkan kaki kanan ke depan diantara telapak tangan.

9. Buang napas, langkahkan kaki kiri ke depan sejajar dengan kaki kanan, rendahkan tubuh ke bawah sehingga wajah dekat atau menyentuh lutut.

10.Tarik napas, angkat badan ke posisi berdiri, kedua tangan lurus ke atas.

11. Hembuskan napas, rendahkan kedua tangan disamping tubuh.


Manfaat dari setiap postur
Postur 1: Melatih konsentrasi dan memberikan ketenangan.
Postur 2: Melenturkan otot-otot perut, tulang punggung dan menguatkan lengan.
Postur 3: Membantu melegakan sakit/rasa tidak nyaman dan mengurangi kadar lemak pada bagian perut, melancarkan sirkulasi percernaan makanan dan melenturkan punggung.
Postur 4: Merampingkan perut, paha dan meningkatkan fleksibilitas pada otot bagian pinggul.
Postur 5: Menguatkan tangan dan bahu.
Postur 6: Menguatkan bahu, lengan dan dada.
Postur 7: Menguatkan punggung bagian atas dan lengan.
Postur 8: Menguatkan otot lengan atas, paha dan melenturkan punggung.
Postur 9: Sama dengan postur no.4.
Postur 10: Sama dengan postur no. 3.
Postur 11: Sama dengan postur no.2
Postur 12: Sama dengan postur pertama.

SALUTATION TO THE SUN


Easy and simple yoga practice for everybody

Suryanamaskara, which means salutation to the sun, consists of 12 body postures or stages. One posture gracefully and smoothly flows into the next. The Suryanamaskara yoga practice combines postures with certain breathing techniques.

According to the ancient yoga tradition, Suryanamaskara is a series of yoga postures which are done to show respect to the power that the sun represents. The practice is performed while facing east in the morning.

Suryanamaskara is normally done as a warm up practice before starting the other Asanas (postures). But Suryanamaskara can also be practiced independently. It is a simple practice that can be performed by everyone.

Postures in Suryanamaskara help to increase flexibility , strengthen the main body muscles, strengthen the bones , improves oxygen circulation and increase our level of concentration.

Start your day with Suryanamaskara and feel your body lighten and energized.


Do the exercise routine below gradually from 15 to 30 times.

How to perform Suryanamaskara:

1. Stand with your feet together, hands strait down along the side of the body.

2. As you inhale, raise your arms up and above your head starting from the side of your body.

3. Exhale while bending forward and down, keeping your upper body strait, until your head touches your knees and your hands touch the floor (bend your knees if necessary to achieve this position). Your hands should be flat on the floor besides your feet.

4. Inhale and extend your right leg and foot back as far as possible and align your foot so that your heel is pointing upward.

5. Retain/hold the breath, extend your left leg and foot back, heel also pointing upward, so that your entire body forms a “push-up” position.

6. As you exhale, gradually bend the knees toward the floor and lower the chest and chin to the floor, but keep your hips off the floor.

7. Inhale, lie flat on the floor and stretch your toes so the tops of your feet are against the floor. Pushing up with the arms, but without locking the arms in the strait position, lift your chest and forehead and look up. Use the muscles of your neck and upper back to lift yourself.

8. As you exhale, lift your hips up, keeping both legs and arms strait. Palms and soles of the feet should remain pressed firmly on the floor.

9. As you inhale, step your right foot forward between your hands.

10. Exhale, and bring your left foot forward, keeping both legs strait as much as possible, while bending down your head to touch your knees (if necessary bend the knees to reach this position). Palms should be flat on the floor besides your feet.

11. Inhale, stretch your arms forward and upward while coming back to a standing position.

12. Exhale and return your arms back to your side.

Posture 3: Prevent stomach ailments, reduce abdominal fat, improve digestion and circulation,
increase suppleness of the spine.
Posture 4 : Tone the abdomen, thighs and legs and make the hips flexible.
Posture 5 : Strengthens arms and shoulders.
Posture 6 : Strengthens shoulders, arms and chest.
Posture 7 : Strengthens upper back and and arms.
Posture 8 : Strengthens the muscles of the arms, legs and tones the spine.
Posture 9 : same as posture no 4.
Posture 10: same as posture no 3.
Posture 11: Same as posture no.2.
Posture 12: same as posture no 1.
